Liz Coplen, Incoming SWOP USA Board Chair, takes off to Vienna

LizonherHarley2BWsmall.jpg

Liz Coplen joined the SWOP USA Board of directors this year and was soon voted in as Board Chair, a role she will take up in August 2010 after she attends the International AIDS Conference in Vienna and the Desiree Alliance Conference in Las Vegas (July 25 to 30, 2010). Her deep knowledge of sex worker organizing in the United States and her dedication to the inclusion of sex workers from all backgrounds into our national organizing makes her an excellent candidate to take over the board chair role from Tara who has been chair for the last two years.

July 2007 San Francisco.

In July, we had our 5th Annual sex worker film and art festival. While we were all there, the FBI colluded with the City to arrest 120 people, mostly workers in Massage Parlors. the City and FBI claimed it was to collect child prostitutes. How many of the 120 they arrested were underage? Less than 5. Are we against child prostitutioni? Definitely, but don't lie to us San Francisco and FBI.

This is what we did in response (video):
